Cork Airport Substation
Mainline were engaged by DAA to construct a new landside Airfield Substation, replacing the existing Substation which was nearing end of life. The project involved both civil and electrical engineering disciplines.
Civil Works:
Full Building construction, including site preparation, substructure works, masonry and steel construction, roof cladding, internal fit-out, and associated external civil and builder’s works.
Electrical Works:
Full electrical fit-out of the Substation including:
• Diversion and decommissioning of existing LV/ELV systems
• MV cable loop modifications to integrate the new substation
• ELV cabling infrastructure
• MV systems including 1.25kVA transformer and ring main units
• 660kVA standby generator
• LV systems including changeover boards, distribution panels, lighting, power, heating, fire alarm, emergency lighting, access control, AC, and IT
• Two 30kVA UPS units with battery backup and bypass interlock
• Fire suppression systems in critical rooms
• 19” comms cabinets (client-supplied contents)
• Installation of CCRs and diversion of primary cables from the old substation
