What We Do
Mainline Group is a leading service provider within the water, telecommunications and electricity sectors. Our business is centred on the build, replacement, repair and maintenance of utility network infrastructure, and incorporates three distinct areas of expertise, across each of the utility sectors:
Infrastructure and Network Build (including all associated Civil Works)
Field Support Services (In-home/business Installations and Maintenance)
ICT & Data Capture (including Data Analytics)
In practice, our business naturally breaks into “Dirty Boots” Construction and “Clean Boots” Technical operations, supported as necessary by our ICT (Information & Communications Technology) & Data Capture division, which also incorporates collection of data from the field (ie. Meter Reading & As-built Records).
Our History
Historically Mainline Group was established in 1999, originally as TE Services Limited, and we initially focused on the Telecoms markets in Ireland and the UK, and quickly became a significant supplier of services to both Eircom and BT. The business continued to grow and in December 2005, TE Services Limited was purchased by Morrison Utility Services Limited (UK).
In 2006, we were awarded a 15 year Non-Domestic Water Metering Contract by Cork County Council. This Contract included the installation of 20,000 non-domestic water meters and continues to include the full management of the Non-Domestic water metering network, along with meter reading, until 2021. Since 2006 the company has continued to grow its client base within the Irish water and telecommunications utilities market, whilst also expanding into the electricity sector.
In 2011 a management led buy-out was affected, and now the company is wholly Irish owned. We initially rebranded from Morrison Utility Services Ireland Ltd. to Morrison Mainline Ltd. Then in early 2015, after an excellent three year period, during which time we significantly increased our presence in the marketplace, we completed the final step of our rebranding process, and changed our name to Mainline Utilities Group Ltd. T/a Mainline Group.
Our Management
Fundamental to the continued success of Mainline Group is the fact that since the change of ownership, we have retained our corporate structure, high level of governance, and business principles with a clear focus on customer service. We also retained the original key members of management team, and as the business grows we continue to add recognised industry leaders to the management team.
Mainline Group has a robust corporate management structure, as demonstrated by our Deloitte Best Managed Company Status, and the recent appointment of John Mullins, former CEO of Bord Gais, to our Board as a Non-Executive Director. Furthermore all our operations are underpinned by the following accreditations covering Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Management Systems:
OHSAS 18001:2007
ISEN ISO 14001:2004
ISEN ISO 9001:2008
Our Focus
Mainline Group is focused on delivering the highest levels of Customer Service (at all levels of interaction with our Clients and/or their Customers). We continually strive to offer innovative and customer focused improvements to all aspects of our business, such as development of in-house bespoke ICT systems, which provide live Job status and information updates specific to our Clients needs.
Much of the works undertaken by Mainline Group is customer-facing and carried out in sensitive locations (ie. installing new connections, Wi-Fi networks, or meters in the telecoms, electricity, and water sectors). Therefore we fully understand the drivers towards Customer Service Excellence and high levels of Customer Satisfaction, and we are constantly striving to deliver step changes in this area, via effective training, and the implementation of new systems and processes.
Our culture of commitment, innovation, efficiency, teamwork and accountability, combined with our ‘can do will do’ attitude, enables us meet the challenges of today’s utility market, whilst continuing to deliver least cost solutions that do not compromise safety, quality, service delivery or customer care. All of which enables us maintain our focus on ‘DELIVERING BEST PRACTICE’.
Our Business
As we grow, we continue to form strategic alliances to allow us target major utility infrastructure projects. For example, in June 2013, after partnering with J Murphy & Sons, we were successful in 2 of the 8 Regional Water Metering Contracts, awarded by Irish Water. This Contract is of major national importance and involves the installation of 275,000 domestic water meters in the West and South West of Ireland.
Overall our business continues to develop at a steady rate, and in addition to the above, in 2014 we established dedicated power and wireless divisions.
Mainline Power, is a limited company subsidiary established as part of our acquisition of McCarthy Utility Solutions Ltd. and offers services in the following areas: –
MV/HV Sub-Station design, installation and commissioning
MV/HV Duct design and installation
MV/HV Cable installation, jointing and testing
Cable/Trafo/Switchgear & Partial Discharge Testing
Earth Electrode Resistivity Testing
Plant Operation/Switching
All associated Civil Works
Mainlines Wireless is a trading name of Mainline Group and has quickly established us as one of the foremost national providers of wireless, and in particular Wi-Fi solutions, via our partnerships with some of the leading hardware manufactures, and software providers in this industry. To date we have completed several medium and large scale projects including, a campus wide solution for Ardmore Studios, and the installation of over 2,800 Wi-Fi “hotspots” for Eircom.
Our Future
We have an extensive track record of project delivery on time and to budget. We also have a wider capability in terms of solution led design & build, maintenance, engineering and project management. Our broad portfolio of national contracts also allows us the flexibility to respond to Clients needs and provide the focus and service required on a local or national level. As an organisation, we are in a excellent position financially, with a strong secured Order Book, and a solid operational structure, all of which provides us with a firm base upon which to build our business into the future.
